My learning and development initiatives allow your business to respond proactively to both your internal and external environments, while focussing on your individual employees. I will tailor the training to your unique business and team members.

I have extensive experience in both retail and the learning environment and have successfully combined both these areas throughout my career.

I completed the Next management training programme, while accomplishing my BA Hons degree in English, and enjoyed working as a retail manager for the brand. As well as working with several high street retailers, I have gained experience in the luxury market, as a store manager for Pure Collection, and as training and also regional manager for the same brand. I had a short-term role as head of retail for Johnson’s Shoes, an independent footwear brand, and more recently, I have had the opportunity to engage with the clearance market, working with both high street and luxury brands, to aid the smooth operation of large-scale clearance and sample sale events.

My experience in education commenced with the completion of a PGCE in English and Media and I worked in UK secondary schools as a teacher of English. I then combined my passion for both retail and learning while teaching Retail Operations at the prestigious Fashion Retail Academy (FRA). I continued to enjoy developing others during my management career by creating and conducting various training sessions. These involved coaching and mentoring managers and inspiring more junior members of the team to want to participate in learning and career enhancement. This led to my interest in developing others, which encouraged me to commence studying for CIPD Level 7 advanced diploma in HR management.

Having achieved the Level 7 CIPD qualification, I have embraced a new Learning and Development role. I have devised a selection of courses to develop the knowledge, skills and attitude of your team, to improve your business in the currently rapidly evolving environment. I provide a variety of L&D for local businesses:

  • I currently deliver regular training courses on behalf of Experience Guildford, the Guildford business improvement district, for their members. These courses are bespoke to the individuals attending each session, and the topics are selected based on the requests of the B.I.D. members, providing a unique L&D opportunity.

  • I have also provided learning and development sessions for the Guildford Institute, which is a registered charity, whose mission is to provide an educational, cultural and social community for people of all backgrounds, to meet and learn.

  • Furthermore, I have conducted training at the Yvonne Arnaud theatre, for their staff and also their many volunteers. Training courses were devised to provide the volunteers with the knowledge and skills required for their important roles. The sessions were successful in that as well as providing training, they also created a fantastic opportunity for the valued volunteers to meet their colleagues and share their points of view regarding theatre procedures and future.
